The role of targeted hygiene in the home and everyday life setting in tackling antibiotic resistance
This review article looks at the importance of hygiene in home and everydaylife in tackling the global problem of antibiotic resistance. It describes the approach to hygiene known as Targeted Hygiene, and how this can be employed in everyday life to decrease the spread of harmful microbes. Promotion of hygiene behaviour change in the community could significantly reduce prescribing of antibiotics and prevent spread of resistant strains in the community.
