Challenges of hygiene in home and everyday life settings: A shared responsibility for infection control

On 2nd of February 2013, the IFH South East Asian Office moderated and provided technical support for a scientific session on home hygiene which took place during the 57th Annual Conference of the Indian Public Health Association in Kolkata. The session was entitled "Challenges of Hygiene in Home and Everyday Life Settings: A shared responsibility for infection control" and was sponsored by Hindustan Unilever Group. The 3 presentations in the session were entitled: “Perception and practice of targeted home hygiene for promotion of public health” by Prof. SK Ray (Dept of Community Medicine, KPC Medical College, Kolkata), “Challenges in Hygiene: Protection against everyday infections” by Ms Gouri Malhotra (Hindustan Unilever Ltd, COMING SOON) and “Effective convergence between National Rural Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water programme and Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, for greater synergy and impacts on communities towards water safety and security, including personal and home hygiene” by Mr SN Dave (WASH Specialist, UNICEF, West Bengal).
