Rapid contamination of the environments with Varicella-Zoster virus DNA from a patient with Herpes Zoster.

The study shows that rapid and widespread Varicella-zoster virus DNA contamination may occur with a patient with zoster (shingles). Positive surfaces for VZV DNA from the room environment of a patient with zoster included the back of a chair, table, door-knob and the air conditioner filter.
