In an Australian study of houses with visible mould growth present at some time during the study, asthma, atopy and respiratory symptoms in children were all significantly associated with indoor exposure in winter to fungal spores. Penicillium exposure was a risk factor for asthma, while Aspergillus exposure was a risk factor for atopy. Clinical and Experimental Allergy 1998;28:459-467.
