The home environment and salmonellosis in children.

In an investigation of 50 homes with an infant infected with Salmonella (mainly S. typhimurium or S. newport) all but 2 cases revealed the same serotype isolated from the environment (dirt surrounding front doors, refrigerators), from another family member, or from household pets.
