Home dampness, current allergic diseases, and respiratory infections among young adults.

This study involving 10,667 Finnish students aged 18-25 years that found that living in traditional student homes with mouldy and damp walls not only increased the risk of asthma, but students had a greater chance of repeated colds. The study showed that 1 in 7 had homes with mould, damp stains or water damage. The strongest statistical association was found between exposure to visible mould and asthma and common colds.
