Foodborne spread of hepatitis A: recent studies on viral survival, transfer and inactivation.

This brief review summarises the findings of recent studies on the ability of HAV to survive on hands and non-porous environmental surfaces, as well as on and in several items of food. It also highlights the current knowledge about the transfer of HAV from contaminated fingerpads to clean surfaces and objects during casual contact.
