Bacterial colonization of toys in neonatal intensive care cots.

An investigation into bacterial and fungal contamination of soft toys in neonatal intensive care cots. Over a 4 week period 98% of cultures taken from 35 toys grew bacteria, with 44% growing bacteria that can be potentially pathogenic even to healthy infants. No cultures were positive for fungi.
