Encouraging change; sustainable steps in water supply sanitation and hygiene

This manual is a field level facilitators guide which can be supplemented by technical guidelines explaining the practicalities of how water supplies and sanitation facilities can be constructed and improved. It also deals with hygiene promotion around the house. It has been developed in Zambia and is being used by the Ministry of Health as a reference document for extension workers, and as the basis for training in participatory methods. These tools take users step by step in problem identification, planning and evaluation. The session have been developed in such a way that they allow communities to solve their own problems, and also offers ways of building their capacity to do so.
